← UFC archiveA good fighter is not always a good bet.
Picking the winner is only half the job. The number next to the name matters just as much.
Start with the price
You can think a fighter wins and still pass on the bet. A favorite at -200 needs to win more than two out of three times just to clear the break-even point. Being the better fighter does not automatically make that a good deal.
Say what would change your mind
A useful breakdown explains how each fighter can win, where the evidence is weak, and what price would make the risk worthwhile. If the available line is worse than that threshold, the answer is a pass. No stretching the argument to fill a betting slip.
Keep the categories straight
Analysis explains the matchup. A lean says which side looks more likely. An official pick is a specific market, price and stake entered into the public record. Only the last one counts toward performance.
Protect. Build. Cash.
Protect means setting limits before the card starts. Build means a repeatable process, not a promise that your balance goes up. Cash means recording what actually happened, including every loss. Some weeks the best entry in the notebook is no bet.
